DB.Starman (DB.スターマン, DB. Sutaaman) is the new 2012 mascot for the Yokohama Bay Stars after they were rebranded as the Yokohama DeNA Baystars. On July 7, 2016, the man playing DB.Starman suffered a heat stroke inside the costume and collapsed onto the field. He was carried off soon after. [1][2] Him being a hamster is a play on the word "hamasutaa," which is the Japanese pronunciation of "hamster". "Hama" comes from Yokohama, the city the team is based in, and "sutaa" comes from "Star", of which its Japanese pronunciation is "sutaa".
